15U+ Academic Team

Formed in select years only, when the roster supports it

Ghost Premier forms an Academic team only in years when we have enough high-academic upperclassmen at the same time to field one. It is not a standing team, it is not offered every season, and it is not a fourth option at tryouts.

Not offered every season

Ghost Premier forms an Academic team only in years when the roster supports it. It is not a standing team, and it is not something you try out for. Every 15U+ player attends the same single tryout and is placed on Scout, Prospect, or Showcase.

Who This Pathway Is For

The player profile and family commitment that fits.

Player Profile

Ghost Premier forms an Academic team only in years when the roster supports it — when enough high-academic upperclassmen are in the program at the same time to field one. Some years we have that group. Most years we do not. It is not a standing team, it is not something you try out for, and it is not a fourth choice alongside Scout, Prospect, and Showcase. Every 15U+ player goes through the same single tryout. In the years we do field an Academic team, we identify eligible players from within the program and contact those families directly. When it exists, it is for student-athletes in the truest sense: players carrying high GPAs and challenging coursework who are targeting schools where academics come first.

Family Commitment

In the years an Academic team is formed, families are typically engaged in the college process from multiple angles — academics, athletics, and overall fit. The commitment involves not just practices and games, but campus visits, academic research, and thoughtful decision-making. Travel is regional, which makes time management more feasible for students with demanding academic schedules. We understand these players have AP classes, extracurriculars, and academic commitments that matter. Because the team is not offered every season, families should plan around Scout, Prospect, or Showcase — and treat an Academic roster as something we raise with you if and when it happens.

What the Season Looks Like

Realistic expectations for practice, competition, and focus.

Practice Cadence

In the years it runs: 2–3 training sessions per week, scheduled with academic demands in mind, with flexibility for exam periods and major academic obligations.

Competition Footprint

New England events and academic showcases where D3, Ivy, NESCAC, and other high-academic programs actively recruit.

What Gets Emphasized

Competitive development paired with academic recruiting focus — helping players find schools where they can thrive both academically and athletically.

How Selection Works

The evaluation process and what we look for.

Selection Process

There is no separate Academic tryout. Every 15U+ player attends the one Ghost Premier tryout. In seasons where we have enough high-academic upperclassmen to field a team, we identify eligible players from within the program and contact those families directly. In seasons where we do not, no Academic team is formed.

What Evaluators Look For

  • Already a Ghost Premier 15U+ player
  • High academic achievement (3.5+ GPA preferred)
  • Rigorous coursework and competitive test scores
  • Genuine interest in high-academic institutions
  • Coachability and team-first attitude
  • Character and leadership qualities

After Evaluation

If an Academic team is being formed, we reach out to eligible families directly with the schedule, expectations, and costs. If one is not being formed that year, players stay on their Scout, Prospect, or Showcase roster and receive the same recruiting support.

Development & College Path

How this pathway connects to future opportunities.

The Development Path

In the years it runs, the Academic team competes at events where D3, Ivy League, NESCAC, and other high-academic programs recruit. These schools look for specific player profiles, and the schedule positions players accordingly. High-academic recruiting guidance is not limited to that team. Every Ghost Premier 15U+ player gets help with admission requirements, coach communication, and identifying schools where they can compete and excel academically — whether or not an Academic team is fielded that season.

Pathway Progression
